Advisory Council (AC)
The Advisory Council oversees the Master Gardener program and advises and assists the OSU Extension Agent and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator as appropriate. Members serve three-year terms and meet six times per year. Meetings are open to all Master Gardener Volunteers. Click here for additional information.
AC Standing Committee(s)
The chair of the following committee also serves on the Advisory Council.
- The Fundraising Committee plans and oversees our annual campaign, including Plants in the Park, Fall Seminar (which both have dedicated teams to plan and execute the events), general and special appeals, and other fundraising opportunities.
Program Committees
- The Continuing Education Committee develops and presents continuing education programs for Master Gardener Volunteers’ continuing education requirements. The committee meets in fall to plan the following year.
- The Basic Training Committee supports the ANR Educator in developing and delivering training for each new MG intern class.
- The Publicity and Social Media Committee develops and implements a publicity strategy to promote the Master Gardeners of Cuyahoga County and its programs. This committee is currently seeking a chair and dedicated volunteers to undertake this important task.
- The Technology Committee does the following:
- maintains the website cuyahogamg.org which provides the public an information on Master Gardeners and its educational programs and events and also provides Master Gardener Volunteers with timely information and news on projects, advanced training, volunteering, social opportunities, and events.
- maintains MGCC’s archives
- manages the MGCC password manager application
- manages email communications and event management (through Constant Contact)
- manages computers/projectors used for presentations.
- The Volunteer Fair Committee arranges this annual event that is held to familiarize interns and MGV’s with the various volunteer opportunities, committees, and committee chairs.
OSU Extension Project or Administrative Support
Master Gardener Volunteers may assist the ANR Educator or Volunteer Coordinator with projects at the OSU Extension office or as assigned. Tasks may include (but are not limited to) filing, packing and unpacking materials, assisting with Basic Training (but not on the BT Committee), etc. Read News You Can Use for information on current needs.
